This past weekend, Round Table Robotics took an exciting trip to Muskego High School to participate in the TWIST off-season competition. TWIST, which stands for Together, Women in STEM Thrive, is a unique event dedicated to empowering young women in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Professionally put together by our friends at team 6421, WarriorBots. One of the standout features of TWIST is its requirement that all drive teams consist entirely of female members. We are proud to say that our pit crew also embraced this all-girls theme, even though it was not mandatory for them to do so.

For this competition, we brought along our 2024 season champs robot, B-Side, and an energetic team of girls who were eager to compete. Each member of our team was given the opportunity to take on various roles, whether that meant being part of the drive team, working in the pit, or repairing our robot. RTR competed in a total of six qualification matches, having three wins and three losses, heading into alliance selections.

We were thrilled to be chosen by Wave Robotics (2826) and the Lindblom Electric Eagles (1781) to join alliance 4. Together, we competed in four playoff matches, and our alliance was eliminated in 4th place. While we might not have won TWIST, the invaluable experiences that the girls on our team gained counts as a win in our book!

Adding to the competition, many male team members and parents were present, cheering from the stands, refereeing First LEGO League (FLL) matches, helping in concessions, working in pit admin, or helping set up matches.

Our amazing mentor, Mrs. Olson participated in the charity match, as the result of a donation from our team. There she donned a unicorn costume and competed in a human game. Her alliance dominated the field, to no one’s surprise!

Overall, the weekend was a resounding success, filled with growth, teamwork, and inspiration for everyone involved. RTR wants to give a huge thank you to all of our sponsors, school, and our families. We wouldn’t be here without you. Now let's get gearing up for the 2025 Reefscape Season, starting on January 4th, 2025. We are 81 days away from Kickoff, and will continue to develop our new students so they are geared up for the build and competition season. As we move in to the holiday season, our team is working with RADA Cutlery to raise money for the upcoming build season.
