Fall-ing into the school year!

RTR had an exciting and fun-filled summer! We had many different events, but the biggest was the Indiana Robotics Invitational (IRI). IRI is one of the most prestigious robotics events in America with 50 different teams from all over the country coming together to compete. There was even a team from Hawaii! Throughout the event, new students learned about the different teams’ robots and how to make our robot even better. Our team also had amazing team spirit; cheering for all of the Wisconsin teams competing.

Another important event was the Mukwonago Robotics Offseason Competition (MROC). MROC is a local event that is a great opportunity to make new friends from different teams. Newer students can also try out roles in the pit and on drive team while in a low-stress and fun environment. Overall RTR ranked 8th in qualification matches with 8 wins and 6 losses, were the first pick of alliance 4 during playoffs, and won the Engineering Design award.

STEAM night was exhilarating, and kids came to have fun building a cardboard city with cars. RTR enjoys these STEAM nights because they can see how kids build and think differently. Mentoring and helping is an amazing opportunity. STEAM night is hosted to intrigue younger kids and encourage them to explore robotics.

National Night Out was a huge success, from demonstrating how robots function to letting kids interact with the robot’s controls. RTR’s booth was flooded with kids of all ages who were interested in the robot and different activities we had.

RTR also volunteered at the annual Oak Creek Lions Fest where both students and parents worked at the walking taco booth making and selling food. Overall, this was a very successful fundraiser and RTR would like to thank the Oak Creek Lions Club for their continuous support of our team.

Currently RTR is prepping the team for off-season events like Roboteer Rumble and SHOUT which is an all girls event created to promote women in STEM. As we start approaching the build season, RTR is working to recruit and train new members. If you are interested in joining our team we meet on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6-8 in room 345A in the NGC.
