Recently, members of Round Table Robotics took a trip to the TWIST off-season competition, hosted by team 6421, Warrior Bots. This competition is a fun and energetic event, dedicated to empowering young women in STEM. TWIST, standing for Together, Women In STEM Thrive, is an event where female team members are encouraged to try out new roles on the drive team, as well as in the pit. This is a great opportunity for newer members to get interested and involved in robotics, and provides an excellent place for learning to happen.

At this competition, everyone on our team had the opportunity to try being a Coach, Driver, Human Player, Operator, or Technician. Our 2025 season robot, Barracuda, performed well, with very few issues, and we competed in 5 qualification matches. We went into alliance selections ranked 8th, with 3 wins and two losses.

During alliance selections, we were chosen by team 1259, Paradigm Shift, and we competed alongside Team 5822, WolfByte. We participated in 3 rounds of the playoffs, and were unfortunately eliminated in our third match. While we might not have won, the new memories, experience gained, and things learned made this competition all worth it.

Outside of the matches, many male members of our team helped out by volunteering- helping with concessions, refereeing FLL, and helping run matches. They were also there, along with parents, to cheer on and support our team in matches. After the competition, RTR assisted with the takedown and clean up of the field, and ended the day with a team dinner at Culver’s, to celebrate our successful day.

First Age is coming up fast, and the team could not be more excited. Rebuilt by Haas will be revealed on January 10th, 2026, approximately 11 weeks away. Until the game is revealed, we will continue to hone our skills and work with new students, gearing up for the competition!

Finally, thank you to all the families, sponsors, mentors, and supporters of our team. We truly appreciate all the support, and we wouldn’t be where we are without you!
