Back to School!

As summer ends and the school year starts we reflect on the last couple months.

As the summer wound to a close, Round Table Robotics has been very busy. We were invited to explain our program to all for the district teachers and staff at their welcome back meeting in August.  We brought our t-shirt cannon with us for some added excitement.  We also were tasked to adapt the barrel of our t-shirt bot so we could be the official James Bild STATE FARM “Drive Safe” rally towel shooter at all of our home football games this season.

Working with the school to help sponsor home football games.

Fundraising is also a big focus during our prep season. Our “Burgers, Brats and Bots” days at SENDIK's were big hits raising us over $1200 for this year's robot build. We also received a BIG Check from the Oak Creek Lions Club thanking us for all of our hard work at Lionsfest 2024.

Students, parents and mentors working to raise money to support our program.
Lion Bruce stops by to present the students with a sponsor check from our work at LIONSFEST 24.

The school year started with the team getting a HUGE gift from our school district in the form of a new Workshop space with plenty of room for us to build next year's robot and a FULL SIZE competition field to practice on. This is a game changer for us because we have never been able to test our robots at full speed. We are not sure how long we will have this space, but we are going to make sure the 2024 2025 season is one for the history books!

This year's team is the largest group of students we have ever had, but with the addition of the new build space we have plenty of work to do. We have to build a field, so we can safely practice the “Reefscape” game before and between all of our competitions.

Students working hard to build and paint our practice field, so we are ready for the 2025 season.

Round Table Robots also ran our very first FLL Coach and Mentor workshop.  This event hosted FLL coaches from as far as Green Bay and Madison.  We presented classes about how to be a coach, how to prepare your team for competitions as well as an introduction to CAD and advanced programing.  A big shout out to our workshop presenters and Oak Creek Mayor Dan Bukiewicz, who sponsored lunch so we could keep this event free to all participants.

A panel Q & A at our first annual, Working Together FLL Coach/Mentor Workshop.

As we end this first month of school with Homecoming, we continue to find ways to participate wherever we can. Parades, pep assemblies and sidewalk decorations. We love being a very active part of our school by showing how much fun our group has together.

Logo in action. We participated in the HOCO sidewalk chalk contest.
Showing off a couple of robots during the parade. There were over 30 groups participating in this Oak Creek tradition.
In partnership with student counsel, we shot out t-shirts at the Homecoming Pep Assembly.

Next week we head over to Muskego High School to participate in an off season event focusing on Women in STEM, and the 2025 season starts on January 4th 2025.  Until then we dance our way through the prep season and we always remember WE ARE, R.T.R.!
